Doris Duke Fellows Present at APHA

Earlier this month, Doris Duke Fellows from Cohorts One through Seven presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Public Health Association in Atlanta, Georgia. Abby Ross, a Cohort Four fellow, organized the session titled, “Preventing Child Maltreatment: Multiple Approaches and Perspectives.” Fellows Clinton Boyd, Lindsey Bullinger, Leah Cheatham, Wendy Ellis, Meg Feely, Paul Lanier, Megan Hayes Piel, Lisa Schelbe, Kristen Seay, and Aditi Srivastav presented at or participated in the session. Fellows shared findings from their research before engaging in discussions with audience members in three break-out groups: Parents, Parenting and the Social Context; Aging out of Foster Care; and Policy as Prevention. Discussions were fruitful and generated interdisciplinary dialogue and problem-solving around issues related to child maltreatment prevention across systems. The session went well, and will hopefully be the first of many future cross-cohort collaborations at conferences and events!

New Fellows' Blog Post:
Teacher's Perceptions of Childcare and Preschool Expulsion

In the most recent blog post on the Doris Duke Fellows' Blog, Emily Bosk, a Cohort Two fellow, along with fellow authors Karin Martin and Denise Bailey, describes findings from the first study to focus on how teachers and childcare directors make decisions about expulsions.

This blog presents the research of current and graduated Doris Duke Fellows. The content of the blog postings represents the individual opinions of the authors and in no way represents the opinions or positions of the Doris Duke Fellowships for the Promotion of Child Well-Being, the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, or Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago.
